The OMG reflections from Steve Hessman, Steve Hall, & John Pearring
Inspired by Mass readings from Tuesday, November 11, 2025
Serve others rather than seeking personal glory
“Man is a beggar before God.”

We are challenged to adopt a servant’s heart, emphasizing that fulfilling our duties as servants of God is not a relationship where gratitude is expected. Instead, it is a reflection of our duty and obedience to His divine will.
Steve Hessman’s reflections: “Amen, Amen. Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit.” John 12:24
It is right and just
“So should it be with you”
By Steve Hall

The relationship between the story told by Jesus and this prayer from the Mass is undeniable. As a people of faith, as a people acknowledging the preeminence of God, we have done and we do what we were obliged to do: We give honor and glory and praise to God and do what we can to follow his precepts. He is the Master; we are the servants.
Steve Hall’s reflections: For our knowledge is imperfect and our prophecy is imperfect; but when the perfect comes, the imperfect will pass away. (1 Corinthians 13:9)
Condemn the sin and live a new life in Jesus
Disavow poor framing in the exercise of compassion
Click here to read John Pearring’s reflection from November 11, 2025. Here’s an excerpt:
The sins of Christians look just like any other sin. We don’t necessarily appear to be retaliating against a holy relationship within the Body of Christ. When Christians sin, though, we join with the world. In a very real sense — a frightening recognition of our participation in evil — we too often prioritize our worldly relationships over our relationship with God.
John Pearring’s reflections: He said to them, “Ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.” (Luke 10:2)
